Structured Classes vs. Gym Time

"Why don't you just go to a gym and workout like a normal person?" I do get that question every now and then. I've always admired the folks that can just walk into a gym and know exactly what to do. I am NOT one of those people; I do NOT know what to do when I walk into a gym. Sure, I can walk over to the machines I'm familiar with and throw around some weights - but unless I did a bunch of pre-work to create a structured workout ahead of time, I'm probably lost when I first walk into a big gym.
Don't get me wrong - I've done it before and I can totally take the extra time to write down my goals, break them down into workouts, split them across each day into chunks that take up the exact amount of time I have to... AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT!
The real answer is that I'm a busy person that would honestly rather just show up and have someone tell me what to do for an hour. I love the feeling of being able to turn my brain off and just enjoy the ride and TBH I get a little bored with unstructured gym time. Unless I'm there with a buddy, it gets kinda lonely and I end up doom scrolling on Instagram between sets.
So yeah - the most amount of time I want to spend thinking about a workout outside of a workout is picking which thing I want to do, then yeeting myself into there at 6am and stumbling out of there when I'm done. Oh yeah, then maybe trauma dump about it afterwards to a bunch of strangers on the internet - either way, it's more fun than wandering around and asking dudes if they're done with the bench press machine yet, or if they're reserving it for the next 3 hours with their towel.
